How We’re Keeping Our Pollocksville Residents Safe with the Covid-19 Vaccination
It’s one of the largest vaccination efforts in American history, and we’re playing a role in it.
During the nationwide coronavirus pandemic, we have continually demonstrated our dedication to keeping our residents safe through not only vaccination, but through adhering to all infection control guidelines.
Our first vaccination clinic was on January 7. We have two other clinics scheduled for February 11 and March 19.
At this time, we are testing twice a week, but this frequency can change weekly because we have to follow CMS guidelines. These guidelines state that frequency is based upon the positivity rate in the county.
In addition, we are consistently following all safety protocols, including the stringent ones from DHSR, the Centers for Disease Control and Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services. We’re also regularly COVID testing all our employees.
As always, we use personal protective equipment (PPE), and our employees have undergone additional infection control training. We’re still utilizing the best precautions for visits.

FAQs About the COVID Vaccine in Pollocksville, NC
We know you probably have a lot of questions. We’ve gathered some useful answers from the Centers for Disease Control.
Are the COVID vaccinations safe?
We know there is a lot of misinformation and fear surrounding the pandemic. We want to set the record straight. The FDA—Food and Drug Administration— has reviewed all the clinical trial data. They would only authorize an emergency vaccination if they saw benefits that outweigh potential risks.
There’s also been extensive clinical trials which help ensure all safety standards are met.
What’s in the COVID-19 vaccinations?
We want everyone to be aware that both available vaccines do NOT have preservatives, eggs or latex.
If you want more details about the ingredients in the Moderna vaccine (the one we administer), you can check out this complete list available from the manufacturer.
If I’ve already had COVID-19, do I still need a vaccination?
Yes. There is still a lot we’re learning about COVID-19, and it is possible to get reinfected. That’s why we believe all eligible people should be vaccinated whether or not they’ve had a COVID-19 infection.
When someone recovers from having an infection, they are said to have “natural immunity.” However, the uncertain part is that this natural immunity may vary from person to person. As a result, officials aren’t sure how long this natural immunity lasts.
Research is ongoing, but if you have specific questions, you should speak with your doctor.
The COVID-19 vaccination is given as two shots. When do I need to get the second shot?
If you are getting the Moderna vaccination (again, this is the type we are administering at Brook Stone), the doses should be given around 1 month apart. You must get your shot as close as possible to this interval. Do NOT get the second dose earlier than suggested.
What if I have an underlying medical condition?
In many cases, if you have an underlying medical condition, it may be even more important for you to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Those who are in high-risk categories—such as senior citizens, those with compromised immune systems or those with diabetes—can have more severe COVID-19 symptoms.
However, you should be sure that you have not had an immediate allergic reaction to any of the ingredients found in the vaccine.
